Terms and Conditions

Tasman Caravan Repairs
Caravan Inspection Service Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions

"Inspector" means Tasman Caravan Repairs Ltd (or its authorised representative).
"Client" means the person or entity requesting and paying for the inspection.
"Caravan" includes caravans, camper trailers, fifth wheelers and motorhomes where applicable.
"Report" means the written inspection report supplied to the Client.

2. Scope of Inspection

The inspection is a visual, non-invasive assessment of the caravan's condition as it appears at the time of inspection. It does not include dismantling, destructive testing, pressure testing, leak testing, gas certification, EWOF certification, plumbing pressure testing, wheel bearing or brake dismantling, axle dismantling, chassis strip-down or hidden structural inspections unless separately agreed in writing.

3. Snapshot in Time

The inspection records the apparent condition of the caravan only at the date and time of inspection. No representation is made regarding future condition, reliability or performance.

4. Hidden Defects

Many defects cannot be identified without dismantling the caravan. Hidden water ingress, concealed rot, delamination, corrosion, wiring faults, plumbing leaks, gas leaks and concealed repairs may not be detectable. The Inspector accepts no responsibility for defects not reasonably visible during the inspection.

5. Moisture Readings

Moisture readings are indicative only. Moisture meters cannot determine the full extent of water damage. Readings vary depending on construction and conditions. No guarantee is given that leaks or water damage are absent.

6. Appliances

Appliances are checked only for basic operation where practical. No guarantee is given as to future reliability, service life or compliance.

7. Electrical System

This inspection is not an Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF) and does not certify compliance with electrical standards.

8. Gas System

This inspection is not a Gas Safety Certificate. No gas compliance certification, leak testing or pressure testing is provided unless separately agreed.

9. Mechanical Inspection Excluded

This inspection is NOT a mechanical inspection. No assessment, testing or opinion is provided regarding the mechanical condition, operation, serviceability, safety, remaining life or roadworthiness of any mechanical component. This includes, but is not limited to: chassis, drawbar, coupling, jockey wheel, safety chains, braking system, brake shoes, drums, magnets, discs, actuators, wheel bearings, axles, suspension, springs, shock absorbers, bushes, wheel alignment, tyres (beyond a basic visual observation), wheels, wheel studs, handbrake, stabiliser legs, stone guards and underbody components. No lifting, wheel removal, dismantling, brake testing or bearing inspection is undertaken. The report must not be relied upon as evidence that these components are safe, roadworthy or free from defects. A separate inspection by a suitably qualified caravan or trailer mechanic is recommended.

10. Roadworthiness

This inspection is not a certification that the caravan is roadworthy, mechanically sound, safe to tow, compliant with New Zealand legislation, suitable for a WOF, EWOF, Gas Certificate or self-containment certification.

11. Cosmetic Condition

Minor cosmetic wear may not be individually recorded unless considered significant.

12. Estimates

Any repair estimates are approximate only and are not quotations.

13. Purchase Decisions

The report assists the Client in making an informed purchasing decision but does not recommend whether the caravan should or should not be purchased.

14. Report Ownership

The report is prepared solely for the Client. No third party may rely upon it without written consent.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, the Inspector's total liability arising from the inspection or report is limited to the amount paid for the inspection. The Inspector is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, accommodation, transport, storage, financing costs, business interruption or any other consequential damages.

16. Consumer Guarantees Act

Nothing excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Where the Client acquires the service for business purposes, the parties agree to contract out of the Act to the fullest extent permitted by section 43.

17. Claims

Any claim relating to the inspection must be notified in writing within 30 days of the inspection date.

18. Photographs

Photographs form part of the inspection record but may not show every defect or area inspected.

19. Access

Areas obstructed by stored items, locked compartments, furniture, coverings, accessories or weather conditions may not be inspected.

20. Acceptance

Payment for or use of the inspection service constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Important Disclaimer

This inspection is a visual, non-destructive assessment only. It is intended to reduce, but cannot eliminate, the risk associated with purchasing a used caravan. Hidden defects may exist that are not reasonably detectable during a visual inspection. This report is not a warranty, guarantee, insurance policy, or certification of roadworthiness or compliance.
